Twenty-one years ago, on September 1, 2005, all Italian-language schools in the Autonomous Province of Bozen-Bolzano (South Tyrol) switched to using Free Software and in particular Debian on their computers. In this talk, I will briefly review the history of the FUSS project (Free Upgrade in South Tyrol’s Schools), the reasons behind this choice with an overview of the architecture and the main tools we are using both server and client side.
