Abstract
Starting with some ideas – but also requirements – the talk describes the development and the implementation of a Debian-based IT-solution for a middle-sized technical secondary (occupational) school.
We start with a linuxmuster.net School-Server, but replace the imaging-based client by a Debian KDE desktop clients deployed via PXE boot, preseeding and ansible-pull during the installation.
Proprietary, commercial/industrial software is provided by a sophisticated system of VMs. The VMs are synchronized to the local machine on demand using bittorent. Teachers and/or departments are invited to provide their own customized VM image.
The talk describes the technical concepts and a system, where students not only learn about IT, but also about digital sovereignty, collaboration, community and the power of Free and Open Source Software.
